The mission of Behavioral Health Quality Management Consulting is to assist organizations and programs in developing, maintaining and improving service quality thereby enhancing the lives of individuals served as well as improving organizational performance and profitability.


Services:

    Preparation for initial licensing or license renewal
Initial licensing: New applicant training includes regulation interpretation, information on expectations and how to comply with regulations. This may include policy and procedure creation. (See below)
Renewals: Full or partial mock reviews with focus on licensing compliance.

    Policies and procedure creation
Development of complete policy and procedure manual including forms and policies required by the Offices of Licensing and Human Rights.
Policy and procedure training and implementation.

   Quality Assurance & improvement
Development of Q.A. and Q.I. processes, implementation and monitoring.
"Trouble shooting" - consultation for organizations finding it difficult to come into and/or maintain compliance with regulations.

    Investigative training
Training on "how to do" of an investigation, including: Preparation, reviewing relevant documentation, interviewing, drawing conclusions and report writing

    Real World training
Dealing with licensing and other regulatory agencies.

   Human Rights Training
Training includes day to day practices and implementation of the Human Rights regulations and interfacing these regulations with licensing regulations. (Written test available upon request.)

Background:

  Anita Mitchem graduated from Radford University in 1981 with Bachelor degrees in Psychology and Journalism. She graduated from Radford University in 1982 with a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Assessment and diagnostics and a minor in counseling.

 Mrs. Mitchem was employed as a Psychologist at Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute from 1983 to 1988.

In 1988 Mrs. Mitchem joined the Virginia Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation, Substance Abuse Services Office of Licensing  where she was employed for over 20 years. During that time she was responsible for the monitoring and licensing hundreds of programs and conducted complaint investigations.

Mrs. Mitchem has recieved training in investigative techniques by the DMHMSAS and the Virginia State Police. Anita has been recognized and awarded by her department for her abilities and conduct.
